Welp… another week, another Kanye West headline. This time it was different. You knew something wild was going to happen. For Christ’s Sake, he was going on InfoWars. Kanye’s thoughts were so far out there that he even left Alex Jones speechless. Alex Fucking Jones. How do you even do that? This is the guy that called the Sandy Hook shooting a conspiracy. He also forced Elon Musk to suspend his Twitter account. This is the same Elon that bought Twitter to stop the suspension of accounts that praise far-right politics. Kanye’s fall from grace will forever be remembered in the entertainment industry. He’s gone from one of the greatest rappers ever to someone that won’t even be associated with music when it is all said and done. It’s a shame, but we can no longer ignore it; he is too insane.
As many of you know, I wrote a previous post about how to separate Kanye, the musician, from Kanye, the person. Well, I can no longer do that, and nobody should be able to separate them after his most recent comments. In his recent interview on Info Wars, Kanye praised Hitler and said he sees the good in him. LET ME STATE. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO GOOD IN HITLER. HE IS ONE OF THE MOST EVIL and WICKED PEOPLE TO HAVE EVER WALKED THIS EARTH. No person should see the good in Hitler; there is no good in Hitler. There is something seriously wrong with you. Because of this, I have decided to delete all Kanye West music from my Spotify, whether it’s his songs or songs he has a feature on. I have unfollowed him on all social media. I have unfollowed every fan account. I am cutting all my ties to Kanye and his music. I should have done this long ago when he first went on his racist and antisemitic rants, but I didn’t. I am now, though.
I can no longer, in good conscience, listen to the music, knowing what he has said about Hitler. He needs to be banned from social media, Apple Music, and Spotify. It is absolutely time that we cancel Kanye West for good. He has already gone too far, but this needs to stop immediately. Kanye West should not be in the headlines anymore. We are feeding this. He is the living embodiment of ego. By continuing to report on him, we are only boosting his ego. The best thing we can do is to completely ignore him. We need to take him off all forms of media. He should not be allowed to have a platform for his hatred. I want to apologize to each of you. I’m sorry I laughed at what he’s previously said or defended myself listening to his music when he first started on these rants. I never thought it would go this far. That’s on me. I will do better in the future.
That is why I am deciding to keep the old post up. At first, I thought I should delete it, but I decided against it. It is a sign of my growth into a more morally correct person. That post will forever hang over me for years to come. I was part of the problem. I continued to be one of the people that enabled him; it’s because of people like me that he continues to get away with things with minimal consequences. I stop that today. That original blog post will forever haunt me, as it should. That was poor ethics on my part. I failed the world. I always say I want to make the world a better place. Instead, I played a role in spreading hate speech. I need to do better. I will do better. I can’t take back what I said; I can only learn and grow from it. Please don’t hold it against me. I made a mistake, and I need to hold myself accountable. That is why the blog post will stay up. It will serve as that reminder that I failed you all. I can never take it back, but I will learn from it. This is not a laughing matter anymore.
The one thing I am still torn about is my Yeezy shoes. Do I keep those? Is it okay to keep those? I spent the money on them before this started, so Kanye has already benefited from my purchase. That is a sunk cost. Technically, Kanye doesn’t own the designs for them either; Adidas does. I feel that wearing the Yeezys I bought before this all started is okay because it doesn’t support Kanye. As I said, he already got that support when I purchased them. It’s not like every time I wear them, he is getting financial support from me. It’s not like streaming his music on Spotify. He doesn’t get money every time I wear them. What do you think? Can I still wear my Yeezys without supporting him?
